Discipline and the Extraordinary

So a wise woman says to create a new habit attach it to an established habit

Tonight I go to an established group, an established habit with like minded people
We discuss moral and spiritual life, moral and spiritual behavior….lovely!

And then I attach a new habit with that habit of going to the club to swim
little voice says “maybe not”
I hear wise woman say attach a new habit with an established habit — okay!

I get to the club, get in my swimsuit, in the water….a little chilly and I start to swim
One end to the other end, one end to the other end, rhythmical breathing,
an established pattern, done this before

And it occurs to me if this were the last spring that I was going to be alive
I would be doing this, I would choose to do this, to be in the water and swim
from one end to the other, to the other, to the other……

Reflecting, I pick my form up a little bit, steady my pace, respect the water
and after a few more laps the extraordinary kicks in
I’m aware that it’s an energy bigger than me, that lives in and through me
taking me from one end of the pool to the other end of the pool to the other end

And my swim becomes extraordinary, big, full and lovely!
Discipline and the extraordinary

Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!
