A little more background on Mary…..
I am a woman in long term recovery and what that means is that I have been free of alcohol and other mind altering substances since August of 1998. Although addiction is not what I set out to do in life, it has been an amazing part of my journey. I don’t believe there is only one way to combat this disease. Due to these open beliefs I have enjoyed a broad community of diverse people who walk this path of sobriety with me.
My understanding and compassion for others is deep and a major reason I became a Life & Recovery Coach. The shame and fear crippled me and it runs rampant in others struggling with use and abuse. There is hope for you as today I don’t live with shame and fear.
Throughout life I was considered too sensitive, and worry was my constant companion Early I experienced traumatic events which resulted in years of extra anxiety and fears, making it difficult to live life day to day with any sense of ease.
My perseverance is and was amazing! I am a strong person with a devastating disease which does have a solution. Today my life is filled with ease of living, an amazing community of good people walking a similar path of self awareness, and days full of love and connection. I’ve dealt with recovery from life, substances and domestic violence aggressively and now have a passion to help others through it.
My BS in Human Services, Minor in Women’s Studies and Masters in Nonprofit Management was excellent training for helping people which included internships in domestic violence, mental health, and homelessness. Throughout my career I continued to work in domestic violence, crisis intervention, aid to the elderly and the homeless.
My passion for nature is HUGE! Born and raised in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon enabled me to live side-by-side with nature. My family logged and my home with 6 siblings and my parents was blocks away from rivers, hills and of course rain! Colorado has been a gift to me. I’ve climber 33 14 thousand foot peaks and my favorite place ever is above timberline.
